About Me
Brien A. Roche practices law in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, products liability, motor vehicle accidents, as well as a broad range of civil litigation. He has been an attorney since 1976. Mr. Roche is admitted to practice in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland. Before working for plaintiffs in injury cases, Mr. Roche spent ten years representing insurance companies as a defendant’s attorney. His experience allows him a unique insight into defense strategies and the inner workings of the insurance industry.
In addition to his busy law practice, Mr. Roche is a published author. He has written several books and articles relating to the practice of law, including the Virginia Torts Case Finder which is considered an excellent reference material used by lawyers and judges. This book is published by Lexis Nexis, the largest law publisher in the country. He also wrote Law 101, published by Sphinx Publications, which answers many common legal questions affecting non lawyers. He has co-authored a book published by the Virginia Law Foundation Objections: Interrogatories, Depositions and Trial, a book written by a trial lawyer for trial lawyers. Mr. Roche has also authored several articles which have been published in the Journal of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Virginia Bar News.
Bar Admissions & Professional Qualifications -
Mr. Roche belongs to the American Bar Association, the Virginia State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, and the Maryland State Bar. He is also a member of the Fairfax County Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. In 1986, Mr. Roche was appointed and continues to serve as a Commissioner in Chancery for the Circuit Court of Fairfax County, Virginia where he serves as a judicial officer hearing certain types of chancery cases.
Education -
He earned his Juris Doctor in 1976 from George Washington University National Law Center. Mr. Roche also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown. From 1970-1971, Mr. Roche served as a member of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve. From 1971 to 1975 he was a uniformed patrol officer with the Washington, D. C. Police Department (MPDC). His wife and seven children live in Northern Virginia. The only peer rating system for attorneys that is maintained is one published by Martindale Hubbell Publishing. The rating system rates attorneys from “A” to “C” with “A” being the highest rating. Mr. Roche has been “A” rated since 1986.
